ROCKVILLE, MD - February 22, 2002 - Loral CyberStar, a global provider of high-quality data, video, content, and Internet services, today announced that it has signed an agreement with Net4India, one of India's leading Internet and infrastructure services companies. Net4India has become a value-added reseller (VAR) of CyberStar's WorldCast Fast Internet service, a service that will allow Net4India to deliver unparalleled, high-speed Internet access and other Web-based solutions to corporate local area networks (LANs) throughout India.
This agreement allows Net4India to provide enterprise customers in India with an end-to-end service for high-speed Internet access. Net4India will provide enterprises with complete support from installation and ground services through regulatory requirements and licensing to ongoing maintenance and service.
"Our relationship with CyberStar will allow us to provide innovative, cost-effective and faster Internet access to our growing customer base of large corporations and businesses. With CyberStar's WorldCast Fast Internet, we can finally provide organizations in India with the last-mile solution that they need for high-quality Internet connectivity," said Jasjit Sahwney, chief executive officer, Net4India, "Using satellite to bypass congested and unreliable terrestrial infrastructure reduces packet loss, provides premium quality of service and increases the reliability of the connection. WorldCast Fast Internet will help us to achieve our goal of providing the best-performing, most scalable Internet network available in India."
CyberStar's WorldCast Fast Internet provides cost-effective, high-performance connectivity to enterprises needing fast and reliable Internet access. Its single-hop satellite technology avoids the quality problems and unpredictable performance introduced by the many routers and network transfers necessary for terrestrial systems and its multicast capabilities allow cost-efficient distribution to multiple points of presence.
"Net4India has a very successful history of providing enterprise services to customers across India," said Raghu Das, vice president and general manager, Indian Ocean Region, Loral CyberStar. "WorldCast Fast Internet is a great fit for Net4India because it allows them to extend high-speed Internet access from the point of origination to the rooftop of the enterprise in the most expedient manner possible."
Using CyberStar's well-established WorldCast backbone connectivity infrastructure, WorldCast Fast Internet offers a number of services including point-to-point and point-to-multipoint connections, a range of speeds from 64 Kbps to 45Mbps, symmetric or asymmetric satellite links and the flexibility of configuring the network as satellite only or as a combination of satellite and terrestrial links. WorldCast Fast Internet gives Internet service providers an instant infrastructure to efficiently deliver streaming media, video-to-the desktop and large-data files.
